Given that the inventory system is a pain in the ass to work with and that saving up a million credits gets you the "Rich" achievement and access to Spectre weapons (which are what you want to be using, always), you should be absolutely ruthless about getting rid of nearly everything you pick up. For more gun-based characters, the kinetic buffers that increase weapon stability and shield regeneration aren't a bad choice.
